How to Achieve Natural Results

Many of our patients fear looking unnatural when it comes to Botox and Dermal Filler treatments, like Juvederm and Restylane.  Our approach at Images Med Spa in Wheaton is to honor your natural beauty and help turn back the clock to a youthful, more vibrant you.

So why is it that some people look over injected, and it’s obvious that they’ve had something done? Some patient’s want to look like they’ve had something done, and sometimes it’s the provider taking care of them that thinks bigger is better.  It’s a matter of taste, really.  Some of us like our coffee black and some of us with cream and sugar.  We encourage you to get to know your provider, know the artistry that they put out there into the world…and find the provider that is right for you.

Many of our patients come in asking for improvement of skin wrinkles, eye wrinkles, face wrinkles….wrinkles, wrinkles, wrinkles…does it make your head spin?  But they fear that having these nonsurgical, cosmetic treatments will leave them looking unnatural or “weird.”  Have no fear, let us help you look like a more refreshed version of you.

Wrinkles are what we all see on the surface.  The skin on your face is the canvas that we all see in the mirror and in photos but remember this is only one of three players in the game of anti-aging.  Our aged skin is an expression of the elements that we are exposed to everyday.  Pollution, UV exposure, and chemicals effect the way our skin looks on the outside.  The skin on our face is also an expression of what we choose to eat and what we put into our bodies like cigarettes and alcohol.

So how can Juvederm and Restylane help with my face wrinkles?

Juvederm and Restylane are something called Hyaluronic Acid.  This is a sugar molecule that is found naturally in your body.  You have hyaluronic acid (HA) in all of your connective tissue and skin.  Sad to say, the body’s natural HA only lasts about 48 hours and then the HA is metabolized.  Our body is constantly producing new HA to keep up with this cycle.  Also sad, as we age your body doesn’t produce HA as quickly as it metabolizes, leaving your skin dehydrated and full of wrinkles.  Juvederm and Restylane is made up of this same HA sugar molecule, it is injected under the skin, and attracts water towards itself making your skin look fresh and hydrated.  Juvederm Volbella and Restylane Silk are dermal fillers that are very thin and are great for hydrating the skin.  When you get a Volbella or Silk treatment, it’s as if we’ve ironed out a wrinkled sheet.  They are meant to hydrate never augment.  These are great products for the lips!

We know that Botox and Dermal Fillers like Juvederm and Restylane are treatments that many of our patients are walking through the door to obtain.  We like these treatments too!  Why?  Because they offer instant gratification in a nonsurgical medspa setting.  They are safe and effective.  Juvederm and Restylane are not permanent and can be reversed if needed.

There are other factors that play a role in how your skin looks…things you don’t have any (or very little) control over.  It’s called genetics and the aging process.  Botox and Dermal Fillers can help us pause and reverse some of the aging process by improving how the skin looks, but remember skin is only one of the three players in the anti-aging game.

When you look at your face in the mirror, look beyond your skin wrinkles.  There are structural elements of fat and bone that affect the way the canvas (your skin) lays.  Juvederm and Restylane do more than just hydrate the skin.  A dermal filler treatment is about supporting the structures under the skin to restore the natural curves and youth of your face.  We are all decaying after the age of twenty-five.  Skin, Fat, and Bone are all elements that decay over time.  For women especially, our bone structure depletes significantly after menopause, so we need to start supporting this well before the downfall.  Dermal filler products called Juvederm Voluma and Restylane Lyft are used to mimic bone structure to support and lift the skin.  When the skin has a strong frame again, the wrinkles on the surface are less apparent.  Other dermal filler products called Juvederm Ultra Plus, Juvederm Ultra, Juvederm Vollure, Restylane Defyne, and Restylane Refyne are used to mimic fat pads in the face.  The fat in our face creates softness and eases the transitions.  This creates beautiful curves and eliminates harsh shadows.  We metabolize the deep and superficial fat pads of the face at a faster rate than other fat pads on our body.  That’s why when you lose 5 pounds you tend to see the weight loss in your face first.  A dermal filler treatment is not about volumizing and inflating your face to look like a cabbage patch or Bratz doll.  We like your face, we want you to still look like yourself when you leave.

This is how we honor your natural beauty…

Our highly trained licensed professionals deliver anti-aging treatments to lift, contour, and define your beautiful face.  A customized treatment plan is developed to target your concerns, and we can work at a pace that fits your social schedule, budget, and goals.  Our treatment suggestions revolve around your concerns.  Once we understand what brought you through the door, we take time to educate you about the treatments that can help with those concerns.  Next, we help you understand how often you would need to come in to maintain the result and the price that is associated with your treatments.  Also, helping you understand the risks and benefits of each treatment is important to us.
